On August 25th, 2018 we will be holding the Sixth Annual “USVMC-OH Fallen Hero Poker Run” in honor of local Fairborn, Ohio hero, Army Specialist Jesse A. Snow.  Jesse was killed November 14, 2010 while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.  Specialist Snow was only 25 years old at the time of his death.  A hometown hero from Fairborn, Ohio, Specialist Snow was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and was killed in Kunar province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire.  Jesse demonstrated courageous and selfless actions in saving the lives of three fellow brothers in arms and solely denying the enemy the ability to capture any American soldiers. His daring efforts were recognized with the posthumous presentation of the Department of Defense Silver Star Medal.  It's the nation's third-highest honor for valor in the face of the enemy.  In an effort to keep Jesse’s dream alive, proceeds from this Poker Run will be deposited into the Jesse Snow Scholarship Fund that is established at Sinclair Community College (Dayton, OH).  USVMC OH established this scholarship to annually award students scholarships in the name of Specialist Jess Snow.  Jesse’s greatest desire was to continue his education in the field of Fire Rescue; his true love.  Your consideration in sponsoring this event to keep Jesse’s dream alive is greatly appreciated.
